SO WHAT'S THIS ALL ABOUT THEN?

I have always thought that music should be free. That way the people who really REALLY want to make music will do it whether there's no money in it or not and the others who are there for the big bucks will go work in a burger joint or something. So when I saw other non-profit, donation based labels I thought what an excellent idea. Now trying to convince others may be a big task but everyone has to agree that the music industry can't survive too much longer without changing to meet the needs of the record and digital buying public.

When I released SUPLEX THE KID's debut album last year, we frankly lost out a bit. The people who listen to more progressive music seem to want downloads, rather than actually owning a physical CD. So what happened? Well loads of blog sites sprang up and people were ripping the music to mp3s for their own pleasure and not really thinking about the band or the label. Harummpff. So, If people are going to steal the music , might as well they steal it direct from the source and hopefully maybe give us a couple of bucks so that we can bring more exciting music to everyones ears.

So this is a trial of sorts. Let's make things a little more interesting. Dont go to big label who dont really care what your sound is all about. You CAN do it yourself. Bring your music to the masses by the way of the internet and social networking. Myspace, Reverbnation , these are the sites that help to make people known. If you like the music, give a couple of bucks back and make yourself feel better by not stealing. Go see the acts that you downloaded, go buy a tshirt or help promote the band locally by telling your friends. Rememeber we can see what gets downloaded , we know and love the fact that your thinking differently about where you get your music from. Because so do we.

LIKE IT. DOWNLOAD IT. LOVE IT. BUY IT.

LOOKING FOR A DEAL?

The whole reason for doing things this way is because I want to see if truly independent musicians can forge a respectable career in music without having to sell out to 'the man'. So if you're thinking of aksing for a deal from me... well if you really want to of course sure. But look how others are doing it and see if you can do it yourself. Of course it's ALOT harder than going to a major, but you have complete control over what you do, what you buy etc.
